I did a little more digging and found this solution seems to clear the error.  I’ve reproduced the steps belong in the event someone else experiences this.

ERROR: “Addon ‘dayz_anim’ requires addon ‘CA_Dubbing_Counterattack'”

SOLUTION:

1. Go to .Steamsteamappscommonarma 2

2. Copy the content of the ‘addons’ folder.

3. Go to .Steamsteamappscommonarma 2 operation arrowheadCommon

4. Paste and replace/merge the files.

(5. Additionally, copy the entire Addons folder into A2OA’s main folder.)

WHY: The required animations are in the ARMA 2 addon folder. Copying them over to ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead will also add them to where DayZ can find them. Not everybody are required to do this. (Assuming they don’t have the error.)

 

 

I’m still seeing other errors, so am going to try reinstalling Day Z.

Thanks for the reply.  hmmm…. I’m pretty sure I have the original Arma 2.  At least, this is what is listed in my Steam for those games …

If I need to buy and download another license, though, no big whoop.

Well, if you have Op arrowhead, and you want to play dayz, you also need the original Arma 2. sorry man!

Howdy all.  I bought a copy of Arma 2 (with Operation Arrowhead) a while back so that I could play Day Z.  However, when I try to launch Day Z I see this error:

Any ideas on what I might try?

For DayZ you need Arma: Combined Operations or you could just get Arma 2 free with arma: Operation arrowhead. Here is the guide. I have done it and it works

The base game is good but some of the mods make it more realistic and enhance it like ACE
